I would like to clarify this concept of instinct because I received many mails and questions groups with respect to the following (I quote something that I already answered elsewhere):

The Vorstellung Freud is Lacan Significant Saussure, as he himself makes clear in his Seminar XI. For Lacan, what is repressed "is not represented desire, the meaning, but the representative ... representation, the lieutenant of the representation. " As we know, the Lacanian signifier emerges in the field of the Other-erogenous-drilling holes and therefore represents the subject for another signifier, hence the Vorstellungsrepräsentanz (Representative of the Representation of the Other "ideational representative, as they say in Portuguese, although it would be better to call ideational) is the binary signifier, S2, and this is the one that represents the instinct which, as we must always stress without fear of being repetitive, the Donate the Other: it is not something that happens naturally. Hence its mathema match demand (the Other): (S ^ D). The infans not born as we sometimes say, or sleepy, or gluttonous, or drinker ... instinct, obviously, and via the analyst's presence, trigger their movement within the fantasy journey.
